Overview Of CAT6 Cable
CAT6 Cable
Overview of CAT6 and Augmented Cable:
CAT6 is the abbreviation of Category 6 and of course is the sixth generation of twisted pair cable. It is network cable that consists of four twisted pairs and is either terminated by RJ45 connectors, on a patch or keystone jacks. The Electronic Industries Association (EIA) and Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) sets CAT 6 cable to 250 MHz (Whereas its predecessor ran 100Mhz speeds), and higher standards for crosstalk and noise specifications. When used for 10/100/1000 Base-T, the maximum length of CAT6 cable has to be 328 Ft /100 m. Application scenarios can be voice, video, data, security, LAN, token ring, and 10/100/1000 Base-T networking.
CAT6A Cable
Letter A in CAT6A is short for Augmented, which is designed to perform at twice the speed of CAT6 cable. CAT6A cable can not only run up to the maximum length of 328 feet (same as CAT6 cable), but also maintains a stronger and consistent signal as well. Additionally, CAT6A has improved specifications, particularly in the area of Alien Cross-talk (AXT) as compared to CAT6 UTP which exhibited high alien noise in high frequencies
